Jack Loring Roberts

July 6, 1936 — October 24, 2021

Woodgate- Jack Loring Roberts, born in Utica, NY, on July 6, 1936, the eldest son of Loring T. Roberts and Helen Miekam Roberts and went to be with our Lord, on October 24, 2021. He was educated in Utica Schools and played basketball for St. Paul's Church, Utica. At a very young age his mother put him in a woodshop class. He was hooked on carpentry from that day forward. Jack was a good finish carpenter. During his high school years and shortly afterwards, he was a window trimmer at J.B. Wells in Utica and he also worked in the family business, Roberts Beverages, 1010 Noyes St. Utica. In 1955 his father, a career military man, recruited him into the U.S. Army. He served his country in Dachau, Germany and was honorably discharged in 1958. After his military tour, he resided in Nashua, NH. and worked repairing printing presses for Doehla Greeting Cards. Subsequently he moved to North Stratford, N.H. where he purchased a convenience store, arcade and pool hall. In 1983, Jack moved to Old Forge, NY, where in 1987, he met his wife of 32 years, Beth Suzanne Frank. They married on August 26, 1989, in St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church, in Old Forge, NY. Retiring from carpentry and wood working in 1998, Jack continued to work part time as a courier and limo driver. He worked for Linda's Limousine Service, a job he liked very much. He couldn't resist a nice, flashy car. He loved Frank Sinatra and driving Limo got him a front row seat at Sinatra's Syracuse Concert. He would say, "It isn't worth driving if it doesn't turn a head." He got great satisfaction from working in his yard, where he planted thousands of trees. He also loved to work on his house. Another saying he had; "If you can't do it right, do it neat." Jack & his wife own and operate Wholly Spirits Wines and Liquors, of Woodgate. Jack is survived by his wife, Beth (the Warden); his two sons and daughters in law, David (Dona) Roberts, Milford, NH, Kenneth (Christine) Roberts, Nashua, NH; one daughter, Janice Hammond, Milford, NH; two sisters, Gail Rodriguez, Utica, NY, Beverly Roberts, Compton, AR; sister in law, Sandra Roberts, Florida; step mother, Elva Roberts, Compton, AR; father in law, Donald (Tiny)Frank, Boonville; five grandchildren, Melinda (Michael) Hewitt, NH, Aliza (Bill) Leuci, NH, Katrina (Phil) Robinson, NH, Nikita Park, Florida, Nicholas Roberts, NH and many great grandchildren and his beloved cat "Otto." Jack was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Douglas, a sister Alison, his brother in law, Paco Rodriguez, his mother in law, Barbara Tormey Frank, (who thought he was the cat's ass) and a step grandmother, Lee Campbell. Jack's family wishes to sincerely thank the Woodgate and Otter Lake Fire Departments and the Old Forge Ambulance for assisting in our time of need. We would be remiss if we did not especially thank Dr. Helga M. Evans for her 30 plus years of wonderful care rendered to Jack. If Helga was your doctor, you were very lucky and blessed! Jack's family also sends a heartfelt note of thanks to Stuart de Camp, Maria Comfort, Randi Pruckno, Bob and Joan Seager, Tim & Sarah Hulser, Margaret Ingraham, Ed Benn and Father Alfred Fish for their kindness shown to us.
