Irene E. Roberts, 63, of Bellingertown Road, a former resident of Welsh Bush Rd., Frankfort, wife of David R., passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2007, at St. Lukeï¿(TM)s Memorial Hospital, New Hartford, after a long illness. Irene was born in Utica, on January 23, 1944, a daughter of Jessie P. Haley. She grew up in Utica, where she attended Utica Free Academy, graduating with the Class of 1962. Afterwards she was employed at Whitticks Restaurant on Genesee St., Utica. Later she was employed at Genesee Nursing Home in Utica, and then as the Volunteer Coordinator for the Masonic Home of Utica. For many years Irene was employed at Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center (Court St.) as a Mental Hygiene Therapy Aide. In 2004, Mrs. Roberts retired from her position as Supervisor of the Post St. D.D.S.O. residence in Boonville. On June 11, 1971, Irene was united in marriage with David R. Roberts in the Town of Whitestown. The couple moved from Frankfort to Forestport twenty eight years ago. She and her husband greatly enjoyed watching many kinds of animals cross their property near Forestport, and she enjoyed playing computer games, cooking, baking, sewing, and crocheting. As a couple they treasured their interest in traveling in New England and in Canada. Together she and her husband, David, greatly enjoyed their membership in the Mohawk Valley Fire Birds Club, a radio controlled model airplane club. While living in Utica, she was a Girl Scout leader. In addition to her husband, David, she is survived by four daughters: Valerie (Roberts) DiPilla, Worcester, MA., Pamela Roberts, Rochester, Diane (Roberts) Kraszewski, and husband, Joe, Newport, NY., Cherie Johnson, Boston, MA., two sons; Timothy B. Bushley, Utica, David R. Roberts, Jr., Great Falls, Montana, eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Scott P. Johnson. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Wednesday and Thursday 5-8 P.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. There will be no further services, and interment will be private.
