Boonville - Herbert Richard Marks, Jr., 52, of Lewis Road died Friday morning at Faxton-St. Luke¿s Healthcare in New Hartford with his family at his side. Herb was born on January 5, 1957, in Lowville to Dr. Herbert R. and Patricia Barker Marks. He graduated from South Lewis Central School in 1975 and worked on the Marks family farm until he purchased the Cavanaugh farm in Talcottville in the summer of 1986. He operated that farm until 2000, at which time he sold it to accept a position with the NYS Department of Corrections. He was stationed at the Woodbourne Correctional Facility in Sullivan County. Herb was untied in marriage with Brenda J. Peters on August 11, 1979 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lowville, NY. He was a member of the Lowville Elks Club, and enjoyed taking hunting trips to Colorado with his son, Joseph, and brother-in-law, David Peters. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In addition to his wife, Brenda, he is survived by three daughters, Beranda, of Winooski, VT, and Brittany and Brianne, both of Boonville; a son, Joseph, also of Boonville; three sisters and their husbands, Minette and Terry Thisse of Martinsburg, Cheryl and Razi Saydjari of Casper, WY, and Jacquelyn and David Peck of Lowville; a brother, William, and his companion Melissa Tripp of Lowville; in-laws Shirley and Darwin (Joe) Peters of Watson; three brothers-in-law and their wives, David and Lisa Peters of Colorado Springs, CO, Gary and Suzanne Peters and Joey and Kelly Peters, all of Lowville; a sister-in-law and her husband, Linda and Richard Denning of Lowville; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Herbert and Patricia Marks, paternal grandparents Walter and Mary Marks, and maternal grandparents Walter and Mary Barker. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-7 p.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, 143 Schuyler Street in Boonville. A funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. William A. Mudge on Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Glenfield, NY. A gathering of family and friends at the Glenfield Fire Department will take place immediately after the interment. Donations in Herb¿s name may be made to the Hope Lodge, 1400 Winton Road North, Rochester, NY 14609.
