Ilion- Henry J. Jasek, Sr. 60, passed away suddenly of natural causes, on Thursday, February 8, 2018. Henry was born in Utica, on February 8, 1958, a son of Joseph and Ruth Tooley Jasek. He grew up in the Waterville and Clayville areas, graduating from Mount Markham Central School. From 1977 until his honorable discharge in1980, Mr. Jasek served his country in the US Army, stationed in the U.S. and also serving extensively in Europe. After serving his country, Henry returned to the Utica area, where he attended MVCC, graduating with a degree in psychology with a minor in child psychology. Later he returned to college earning a Bachelor degree in social work. For many years Mr. Jasek was employed as a social worker at The House of the Good Shepard, Utica. For a time he lived in Creedmoor, NC, where he was employed as a police officer and as a truck driver. Later he moved to his present home in Ilion, where he was employed in the security department at Remington Arms. For the past several years, until the present time, Mr. Jasek was employed as a courier for Stallion Express Co. of Binghamton. In October, 1982, Henry was married to Pamela Hotaling, in Utica. The couple were divorced in 2012. Henry was an avid hunter; he greatly enjoyed spending time hunting deer, bear and turkeys with his son, Henry Jr. He also enjoyed camping, reading and researching buried treasurers and military battles. He was of the Catholic faith. He is survived by his children; Henry Jr. (Amanda) Jasek, Boonville, Joseph (Jennifer) Jasek, Dolgeville, Sarah (Jeremy) Schwanke, Clarksville, TN and Matthew Jasek, Boonville; seven grandchildren, Brooke, Braiden, Bryan, Aeriel, Abigal, Isabella and Michael; his siblings, John Jasek, Waldoboro, ME, Carl Jasek, Michael Jasek, both Town of Ohio, NY, Ben Jasek, Utica, Stephaina Jones, foster sister Laura Wilcox, both Utica. He was predeceased by his parents, by a granddaughter, Lynzie, and a brother, Frank Jasek. Visitation hours are Thursday 5-8 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
