Helene B Williams (64) of Big Moose, NY, affectionately known as Bridget, went home to be with the angels on February 15th, 2024, after a brief, yet courageous battle with cancer. Bridget was surrounded by her loving and devoted family at her passing.
Bridget was born on August 30, 1960, to the late Thomas and Nora Williams. She was the youngest of 7 children. She grew up on the farm on Fairchild Road in Remsen, NY. She attended Remsen School. She earned an A.A.S in human services and would later become an assistant teacher for the Head Start Program. Most recently, until October 2024, she worked at the Big Moose Station restaurant for the last decade.
Bridget will be remembered as someone who ventured out on her own. She enjoyed travelling and would pack all three of her children in the minivan to explore as much as she could. A great lover of mountains and solitude she spent most of her life in Big Moose at “Camp.” Those that knew her would say that she was the most laid-back person they knew. She was an avid concert goer and loved live music, especially blues and folk. She was generous towards others and always felt strongly about helping those who needed it. Her greatest passion in life was being a mother, grandmother, and a good person.
Bridget leaves behind her three children, Rhiannon Hickox-Dorrity (Nate), Constableville, Caleb Hickox (Tyler), Sauquoit, and Jacob Hickox, Remsen. She leaves behind her miracle grandchild, Brynn Helene Dorrity, whom she loved and cherished immensely. Also surviving are siblings, Trevor Williams, New Jersey, and Betty Graves, Remsen, “sister nieces” Samantha Matt and Katrina Becker both of Remsen, and close nephew Gilbert Murphy.
Bridget was welcomed home by her parents, Tom and Nora Williams, siblings, Roger, Gilbert, Arlene and Mary, special friend, David Hickox, and soul mate, James “Monk” Piccione.
The family would like to extend gratitude to Katrina Becker who tirelessly provided Bridget with comfort and support towards the end of her life. Bridget and her children will never forget the compassion shown during that time. In addition, the family extends gratitude to Samantha Matt for her lifelong support and wisdom. There will be no calling hours or services. A celebration of life for Bridget will be scheduled at a later date. The family asks that in memory of Bridget, those who knew and loved her, to put on some music, “don’t worry about it,” and be kind as she always was.
Her funeral arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where an online message of sympathy may be placed at www.trainorfuneralhome.com.
