Helen S. Charbonneau

Helen S. Charbonneau, 84, of the Millers Woods Road, widow of Harold "Bill" Charbonneau, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at the Oneida Healthcare Center. Helen was born January 9, 1923 in Boonville, a daughter of Frank and Katherine Pietrowski Szyikowski. She spent her childhood on the family homestead on Echo Lake Road, graduating from Boonville Central School in 1940. She was united in marriage with Bill Charbonneau at St. Frances DeSales Church in Utica on December 28, 1946, a union that lasted until Billï¿(TM)s passing on June 5, 2001. The couple moved to their home on Millers Woods Road, Hawkinsville, in December 1954, where they raised their four daughters. During the summers, while her daughters were younger, Helen was employed at Countryside Golf Course, Boonville, later joining her husband in the printing business at Boonville Graphics, Inc. as Secretary, retiring at the age of 82. She was an extraordinary woman who always put the needs of her family ahead of her own. Helen especially enjoyed family gatherings where she was always in charge of making her baked beans and pies. Another favorite pastime of Helenï¿(TM)s was golfing with the Ladiesï¿(TM) Evening Golf League, and like her husband, enjoyed the 19th hole. In her later years she enjoyed sitting on her deck and watching her birds and chipmunks. Helen was a member of St. Patrickï¿(TM)s Church, Forestport. She is survived by four daughters: Kathy and husband Robert Dustin, Jr. of Boonville, Deborah and husband Douglas Wasielewski of Barneveld, Connie Crane and fianc Daniel Raschella of Oneida, and Jody and husband Dr. William Cooley, Jr. of Oneida; nine grandsons: Robert Dustin III and wife Kerry, William Dustin and wife Maggie, Zachary and Jacob Wasielewski, Dr. Andrew Crane and Tyler Crane, Ryan, Kyle, and Evan Cooley. Helen loved being called "Great" by her great-grandchildren: Lily and Sebastian Dustin. Also surviving is one sister-in-law: Myra Szyikowski of Boonville; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers: Henry and Joseph Szyikowski; and by two sisters: Frances Snyder and Katherine Kozak. The funeral service for Mrs. Charbonneau will be at 10 am Saturday at the Trainor Funeral Home, 143 Schuyler St., Boonville. Interment will be in St. Josephï¿(TM)s Cemetery, Boonville. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Friday at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to Boonville Ambulance, Inc., P.O. Box 164, Boonville, NY 13309.
