Port Leyden- Helen R. Levensailor, 85, a long time resident of River Road, widow of Charles L, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Lewis Co. General Hospital in Lowville. She was born in Talcottville, on the Bourgeois Homestead Farm on Rt. 12D on July 17, 1927, a daughter of Vincent A. and Irene Kathleen Schue Bourgeois. Her family moved to the hamlet of Denley, later she moved to Port Leyden, where she completed her education. During the late 1940's Helen was employed at the Scanlon Hotel of Croghan, and later she was employed with the Green Thumb Agency through the Lewis Co. Office for the Aging. For many years Helen provided child care at her residence. On July 17, 1950, Helen was united in marriage with Charles L. Levensailor, at the Rectory of St. Martin's Church, Port Leyden. After that the couple moved to her home on River Road near Port Leyden, where she resided until entering Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, in 2011. Mr. Levensailor, a Veteran of WWII, and a retiree of Boonville Division of Ethan Allen Furniture Co., died on May 2, 2008. Mrs. Levensailor was a member of St. Martin's Church, Port Leyden and she had participated in the Jubilation Choir at St. Martin's and St. John's Churches. She enjoyed raising vegetables and flowers, canning, baking bread and those wonderful molasses cookies. Most of all, Helen loved her family; she treasured the moments spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by four sons and three daugters: Randy L. Levensailor, Port Leyden, Leonard V. (Debbie) Levensailor, Troy, Charles L. (Phylliss) Levensailor, Boonville, Arnold J. (Kathy) Levensailor, Port Leyden; three daughters and sons in law: Debra Ann (Robert) Millard, Boonville, Sharon I. (Jeffrey) McDougall, Phoenix, NY, Cassie M. (Shawn) Smith, Port Leyden, nineteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one sister, Marie Kuritzky, Boonville, one brother, Michael Bourgeois, Lee Center and four living sisters in law. Helen was predeceased by two grandchildren, James Levensailor, and Connor Levensailor, and by brothers, Donald, William, Vincent, Frank and Augustus; and by sisters, Margaret Weber, Phyllis Stephens and Charlotte Sullivan. She always considered that she was blessed to have had another mother, Myrtle Hutchins Bourgeois, who passed away in 1972. She was also predeceased by her dog "Mouse." Her Funeral will be Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, and at 11:00 A.M. at St. Martin's Church, Port Leyden, where Rev. Lawrence Marullo, pastor, will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden. Calling hours are Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
