Boonville- Hazel (Lamb) Thayer, 101, widow of Ivan "Pat" Thayer, a former resident of West Main St. Turin, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, where she had resided since 2006. She was born in Bradford, Pennsylvania, on April 19, 1913, a daughter of Archie and Grace Chase Lamb, Sr. She grew up in Bradford, where she was educated and later was employed as a domestic in private residences. In 1940, she moved to Lyons Falls. On December 11, 1963, Hazel was united in marriage with Ivan M. "Pat" Thayer, in Lowville. For 16 years the couple lived in Turin, where Mr. Thayer was employed at Holiday Lodge of Turin. Mr. Thayer a veteran of the US Army in Post WWII Germany, died on March 18, 1976. In 1980, Mrs. Thayer relocated to Kortenaer Village, South St. Boonville, where she resided until entering the nursing home. Mrs. Thayer was a member of the Boonville Alliance Church. She is survived by a niece, Lorraine Blair, Sanford, FL; and two nephews, Philip (Sharon) Blair, Allegany, NY and Ronald Blair, Frewsburg, NY. A memorial service will be held on at the Boonville Alliance Church, at a later date. Interment will be in Turin Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
