Hollidaysburg, PA – Harry V. Faduski EdD (83), husband of Karen G. Faduski, formerly of Syracuse, passed away on May 17, 2023, at Altoona Hospital.
Harry was born at home in Lyons Falls, NY, on June 5, 1939, a son of Thomas R. and Phyllis Simser Faduski. Harry grew up in Boonville, NY, and was a graduate of Boonville Central School with the Class of 1957. Harry was a very talented athlete and while in high school was a member of the varsity soccer, basketball, and baseball teams. He held the Boonville Central School record for most points scored in a basketball game until the late 1960s. Harry then went on to SUNY Potsdam where he received his bachelor’s degree in Education, also being inducted into their Sports Hall of Fame for his participation on the college’s soccer, basketball, and baseball teams all four years he was there. As a senior at SUNY Potsdam, Harry had the opportunity to sign a contract with the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, an opportunity he turned down to pursue his career in education. Harry then attended SUNY Oswego, receiving his master’s degree in Math Education.
In 1963 Harry began his employment with Elmcrest Elementary School in Liverpool, NY. While there he achieved the status of National Elementary Principal. He then attended Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, where he was awarded a Mott Scholarship from the Mott Foundation. Harry earned his doctoral degree in Education in 1974. Harry was then employed as the elementary principal for Elmcrest until his retirement in 1990. Following his retirement Harry was employed at St. Francis University in Loreto, PA, where he was a student teacher supervision instructor.
In 2001 Harry and his wife moved to Hollidaysburg, PA, where they have since lived. Harry was of the Catholic faith and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church.
Besides his wife, Harry is survived by his children: Charles Edward “Ned” (Macarena) Faduski, Atlanta, GA and Matthew Michael (Tracy) Faduski, Hollidaysburg, PA; three grandchildren: Benjamin Jon (Maureen) Heiberg, Jacob Matthew Faduski and Kaitlynn Beretta Faduski; his great grandson: Jaxon Benjamin Heiberg; his siblings: T. Robert (Linda) Faduski, Oneida, NY, Mary Faduski, Spokane, WA, Rita (Jerry) Wallace, Appleton, WI, Victor (Mary Pat) Faduski, Lyons Falls, NY, Jane (Mark) Manzer Butler, PA, and Kathy Evans (Huey, deceased), Port Leyden, NY; 22 nieces and nephews; 44 grandnieces and grandnephews; and brother-in-law, Frederick H. Griffith, Boonville, NY. Harry was predeceased by his daughter, Laura Katherine Faduski, in 2001, his niece, Tammee Wallace, in 2008, and his brother, Leon Faduski, in 2018.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a sharing of memories and celebration of the life ceremony, for Harry V. Faduski, EdD, on Monday, July 24, 2023, from 9-10:30 A.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Interment will be private at the convenience of his family in Boonville Cemetery.
