Harold Rudd "Spike" Kellogg, 77, of East Main St., passed away on Friday evening, January 26, 2007, at Lewis Co. General Hospital, Lowville, where he had been a patient since January 24. Prior to entering the hospital, Spike had been a resident at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Boonville, since November, 2006. Harold was born in Boonville, on October 17, 1929, a son of Fred J. and Viola Mary Rudd Kellogg. He grew up in Turin, where he attended Turin Union School. On February 13, 1953, he entered the U.S. Army, serving in Korea, until his honorable discharge on February 9, 1955. After that he attended the Gerald Brown School of Plumbing and Heating in Lyons Falls, and then was employed as a steam fitter and plumber. He was also employed at Fairchild Dairy Farm of Lyons Falls, and then for the late Cleon Galarneau, dairy farmer of Turin. During that time he developed a great interest in horses, and enjoyed attending area horse pulling contests. For a time he was employed as a custodian at South Lewis School in Turin, and his last employment was a caretaker at Port Leyden Cemetery. He was a member of Lowville V.F.W. Post # 6912, and a former member of the Turin Fire Department. Mr. Kellogg is survived by three sisters and two brothers in law: Loretta Hill, Remsen, Beverly Kinel and Walter, Port Leyden, Shirley Joslin and Charles, Turin, six brothers and four sisters in law: Lloyd Kellogg, Orange Pk. Fla., Russell Kellogg and his friend, Sandy Irish, Lowville, Erving Kellogg, and Chris, Leeds, NY., Carl Kellogg and June, Lowville, Charles Kellogg and Evenly, Dickson, TX., Richard Kellogg and Colleen, New Providence, PA., and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was predeceased by two infant sisters, and one infant brother. His funeral will be Monday at 8 P.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Pastor Joan Ripp will officiate. Interment will be in Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Port Leyden Fire Co. Ambulance fund, or to Turin Fire Co. Ambulance Fund.
