Port Leyden- Grant I. Galarneau, 50, of Galarneau Drive, husband of Sandra, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2011, at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, after a long illness. Grant was born in Lowville, on June 13, 1960, a son of Bruce and Gladys Mooney Galarneau. A life resident of Port Leyden, he attended Port Leyden Central School, graduating from South Lewis Senior High School, with the Class of 1978. Thereafter he was employed for Young & Wilcox Trucking, Lowville, and for Kraft Foods of Lowville, in the packaging and maintenance departments. For the eighteen years until he retired due to illness in 2009, Mr. Galarneau was employed as a heavy equipment operator at the Town of Lyonsdale Highway Department. For eight years he served as a judge for the Town of Lyonsdale. On January 1, 1986, Grant was united in marriage with Sandra LaRue at Calvary Bible Church, Greig. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, golfing, camping, playing soft ball, and tennis. He was an avid New York Yankee Baseball fan. Besides his wife Sandra of 25 years, Grant is survived by one son, Gregory R. (Ashley) Galarneau, Port Leyden, daughter, Ashley M., Grant, NY, and daughter at home, Abbey M, and two grandchildren Gunner G. Galarneau and Aaron B. Richter. He is also survived by brother Bruce G. (Donna) of Georgia, sisters; Pat (Paul) Clark, Sylvan Beach, Bonnie Wilson, New Jersey, Dawn Plum, New Jersey, sister-in-law, Jackie Houck, New Bremen, sister-in-law, Rhonda Houck of Texas, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, and two brothers, Ronald Houck and Jerry Houck. His Funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Rev. James Jenkins of the Calvary Bible Church will officiate. A spring interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Lyons Falls. Calling hours are Friday 1-4 & 6-9 P.M. at the funeral home.
