Lyons Falls- Gordon L. Post, 85, a native and long time resident of Shibley Road, husband of the late Lois (Kirkbride) Post, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2012, at Lewis Co. Extended Care Facility, while surrounded by the loving care of his family. Gordon was born on the Post Homestead Farm on August 1, 1927, a son of Burrel and Florence Post Post. He was a graduate of Port Leyden Central School, with the Class of 1944, later he and his brother, Bernard operated the family farm on Shibley Road, Town of Lyonsdale. For many years Mr. Post was employed as a bus driver for Port Leyden Central School, and also at Lyons Falls Farmers Co op, later known as GLF and Agway. His last employment was with N.Y.S. Department of Transportation at Lowville, where he was a truck driver, working in road maintenance, retiring in 1989. Gordon was united in marriage with Lois M. Kirkbride, on June 7, 1952, at St. John's Church, Lyons Falls. Mrs. Post died on October 21, 2006. Mr. Post was a member of St. John's Church, Lyons Falls and the Moose River Fish and Game Club, Town of Lyonsdale. He is survived by four daughters and sons in law Elaine "Judy" Hirschey and Michael, New Bremen, Cindy L. Mooney and Lyndon, Lyons Falls, Laura Smith, Panama City Beach, FLA. and Cathy J. Brown and Fred, Turin; four sons and daughters in law, David M. Post and wife, Vaughn, Ricky L. Post and Robin, Randy S. Post and Cheryl, Craig and Tammy Post, all of Lyons Falls, nineteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Charles D. (Buck) Post, March 30, 1976, by a son in law, Louis Smith, on Sept. 8, 2012, and by a brother, Bernard, in 2004. Also surviving is a half brother, Charles and wife (Jeanne) Mooney, Boonville; and a half sister, Thelma (Sally) Trombley, Lyons Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Lawrence Marullo, on Wednesday, at 10:30 AM at St. John's Church, Lyons Falls, with interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden. Visitation is 5-8 P.M. Tuesday, at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Memorial contributions may be made to Lyons Falls Fire Company.
