Port Leyden- Gordon K. Shaver, 72, of Rt. 12, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2015, at Rome Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. He was born in Constableville, on June 20, 1942, a son of Kenneth and Dorothy V. Lallier Shaver. Gordon grew up in Port Leyden, where he received his education, graduating from Port Leyden Central School with the Class of 1960. Thereafter he was at Poppleton Motors, Boonville, Ethan Allen Furniture Co. Boonville, before his employment as a truck driver at Mercers Dairy of Boonville, for twenty five years. After that he was employed part time as a custodian for South Lewis School District. Gordon greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing; he was a member of the NRA and Lyons Falls Rod and Gun Club. He was of the Catholic Faith. He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen (Aaron) Karneth, Bedford, NH, and Michelle L. Yauger and her fiance, Douglas Christman, Verona; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Jacqueline, Brittany Miller and companion, Justin Hedden, and Brayden Yauger and several cousins. Visitation hours will be Friday 4-7 p.m. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Interment and services will be in the spring in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Boonville.
