Port Leyden- Gordon E. Fahey, 65, of Elm St. a life resident of Port Leyden and husband of Rae, passed away suddenly on Friday, August 26, 2016, at his residence. He was born in Lowville, on September 27, 1950, a son of Gordon E. and Ellen E. Smith Fahey. Gordon attended Port Leyden Central School, graduating from South Lewis Senior High School, with the Class of 1968. There after he furthered his education enrolling in college courses. In the early 1970's Mr. Fahey began his employment for Law Bros. Construction Co. Lyons Falls, first as a painter before advancing to project manager and general manager. When Law Bros. closed in the mid 1990's he was employed for several years for PALCO of Lyons Falls in building restoration. Later Gordon founded G.E.F. Restoration Inc., a company which specialized in major building restoration in Northern New York. Through his building and painting talents, Mr. Fahey played a major role in the restoration of Boldt Castle in the 1000 Islands, at Alexandria Bay, and also the complete reconstruction and restoration of the historic grandstand at the Lewis County Fair Grounds, Lowville. On October 26, 1974, Gordon was united in marriage with Rae E. Crofoot, at St. Martin's Church, Port Leyden. Mr. Fahey was of the Catholic faith. He was a longtime member of J.S. Koster Hose Co. - Port Leyden Fire Company, where he also held office as Treasurer of the department. He greatly enjoyed fishing on the Black River. Together, Gordon and Rae found much enjoyment in watching sporting events on TV, especially Baseball, NFL Football and NASCAR. He always favored any New York baseball or football team. For many years, Gordon enjoyed playing Pitch with friends; in recent times meeting for Pitch games at the Brick Front in Port Leyden. Many years ago he and Rae enjoyed playing horseshoes. In addition to his wife, Rae, of Port Leyden, Gordon is survived by three sons, Jason E., NY Mills, Aaron E., Port Leyden and Jeremy M. Remsen; his mother, Ellen E. Harvey, Lyons Falls; one sister, Rebecca Fahey, Lyons Falls and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. His Funeral will be Wednesday at 9:00 A.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. and at 10:00 A.M. at St. Martin's Church, Port Leyden, where Rev. Lawrence Marullo, pastor will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden. Calling hours are Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
