Inlet- Gloria Weiman, 88, a long time resident of Limekiln Lake Road, wife of Howard J., passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, where she had resided since 2009. A native of Utica, she was born on June 13, 1925, a daughter of Lloyd and Sadie Furman Pfluke. Gloria grew up in Utica, where she received her education. In 1947, she was united in marriage with Spencer Newton, in Utica. After their marriage the couple settled in Eagle Bay, where Mr. Newton operated a grocery store and fruit stand business. Mr. Newton died in 1982. On March 3, 1984, she was united in marriage with Howard J. Weiman, at the Church of the Lakes in Inlet. Thereafter the couple lived on the Limekiln Lake Road, until she entered the nursing facility in 2009. For many years Gloria was employed for many years as a waitress and cook at Eckersons Restaurant and later in the same capacity for The Lantern's Restaurant both of Eagle Bay. Mrs. Weiman was a long time active member of The Church of the Lakes of Inlet, where she served on the Church Session. She was also a member of the Eastern Star of Old Forge and the Young At Heart Senior Citizens of Inlet. During the winter, she attended Niccolls Memorial Church of Old Forge. In addition to her husband, Howard, Gloria is survived by one daughter and son in law, Beth Ann Russell and Eugene, Old Forge; two sons and daughters in law, Spencer Newton and Andree, Old Forge, and Brad Newton and Cherie, Marriott, GA; eleven grandchildren, Michele (Andrew) Kalil, Mike (Loretta) Gaffney, Kristi (Albert) Savage, Lindsey (Danny) Lemons, Jennifer (Greg) Baker, Andy, Jason, Jeff Russell, Dan Russell, Mark Russell and Chris (Kate) Russell; sixteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The last of her family, Gloria was predeceased by brothers, Carl, Lloyd, Bob, Earl and Lynn Pfluke; and by sisters, Ruth Paquette, Doris Guzzardo and Betty Page. Her Funeral will be Saturday at 11 A.M. at The Church of the Lakes of Inlet, where Rev. Lawrence Bartell, pastor of Niccolls Memorial Church of Old Forge, will officiate. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Old Forge. There will be a visitation from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the funeral at the church.
