Gloria Louise Capron

Gloria Louise Capron passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie, NY, after a brief illness. Her daughter, Samantha, was by her side. Gloria was 89 years old. She was born on January 13, 1934 in Wallkill, NY, the daughter of the late John W. and Edith M. (Palen) MacEntee, and grew up on North Mountain Road in Gardiner, NY. She was the last surviving sibling of her family.

Gloria married John Harry Capron on April 18, 1989 in Tucson, AZ.

Survivors include her husband of thirty-four years, John. Children: Samantha (Bryan) Dick, Jeffrey Kavanaugh, John (Dawn) Kavanaugh, stepson Jeffery (Andrea) Capron. Sisters-in-law: Susan (Thom) Capron-Davis and Marjorie Capron-Mahaffy. Brothers-in-law: William (Renata) Capron, David (Donna) Capron, Andrew (Joyce) Capron. Grandchildren: Easton Dick; Skyler, Nolan, and Drake Kavanaugh; Nicholas, Zachary, and Adelyn Capron. Many nieces, nephews and friends.

Gloria was pre-deceased by her parents, a sister, Mildred Fish, and brother-in-law, Theron Fish. Two brothers: Thomas MacEntee, and Robert MacEntee. A sister-in-law Thelma MacEntee. Father- and mother-in-law, Harry and Jean Capron; brothers-in-law, Bruce Capron and John Mahaffy.

Gloria’s past employment included Lombardi’s Restaurant in Gardiner, NY, and a women’s health clinic in Poughkeepsie, NY. She would retire and become a full-time homemaker. Gloria was an amazing cook and mother. She loved yard sales. She loved superb restaurants and tolerated her husband’s taste in diners. Gloria was also an avid Apple iPad user. Gloria traveled across the United States and to Mexico with her husband. She adored all her children and grandchildren, and especially loved being a mother and role-model to their daughter, Samantha.

A graveside service is to be held at the Boonville Cemetery in Boonville, NY, at 2:00PM on September 27, 2023.
