Boonville- Glenn Lyle Thompson, 88, a longtime resident of Kortenaer Village, South St. passed away on Friday, August 5, 2016, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, where he was surrounded by the loving care of his friends. Mr. Thompson had resided at the nursing home since July 29, 2016. Affectionately known as Lyle, he was born in McConnellsville, on September 27, 1927, a son of Emory and Ethel M. Brown Thompson. Later he grew up near Constableville, on the Crofoot Hill Road, where Lyle in partnership with his mother, Ethel, made it possible to continue the operation of the family dairy farm for many years. Lyle will be fondly remembered for his rhubarb pies which he greatly enjoyed baking and sharing with his friends; he also enjoyed baking many different kinds of cakes. For many years Lyle entertained and amazed scores of North Country folks with his amazing working display of Lego Trains, moving automobiles and figures which he constructed piece by piece, assembling the same in a large layout in the Exhibit Hall at the Boonville-Oneida Co. Fair. Lyle was a friendly person who loved people and found great enjoyment in riding his bicycle around the streets of Boonville. For many years he attended the Assembly of God Church of Boonville. He is survived by cousins, Wayne Brown, Judy Kohler, Carolyn Willson, Susan Rocker, Alan Brown, William Brown, Sally Bubel, Betty Poore and Teressa Latona.; his close friends Susan Machowski, Boonville, and Louis Pernicka , Boonville. Lyle is also survived by his beloved feline friend, Princess. His Funeral will be Monday at 2:00 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Pastor Daniel Tabolt, of the Abundant Life Fellowship Church, Boonville, will officiate. Interment will follow in Constableville Rural Cemetery. Visitation hours are Monday 12 Noon until the time of the funeral, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
