Boonville- Gladys E. (Millard) Lee, 92, widow of Richard A. “Dick” Lee, and a former resident of Charles St., passed away while under the loving care of her family, on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at The Bethany Gardens Skilled Living Center, in Rome.
She was born in Lowville, on March 22, 1932, a daughter of Rutson and Emogene Peatrie Millard. Gladys grew up on the Millard Family Farm, near Turin and graduated from General Martin High School in Glenfield. On March 22, 1951, Gladys was united in marriage with Richard A. “Dick” Lee, at the Turin Methodist Church. Thereafter the couple resided in Boonville.
After Mr. Lee was honorably discharged from serving his country in the US Army in the Korean Conflict, Dick joined his father in the operations of family’s auto dealership. Later after the couple’s five sons were grown, Mrs. Lee became the Executive Secretary for Lee Pontiac, Buick & GMC Truck, Inc., which was located on Erwin Parkway, in Boonville. Gladys served in this capacity, until her late 80’s, working with her husband, Dick and their sons in the operation of the auto dealership. Mr. Lee, passed away on August 13, 2016.
Mrs. Lee was a member of the Boonville Methodist Church. She enjoyed making ceramic dishes and she enjoyed cooking, baking and hosting family celebrations and gatherings. She and Dick and their family also greatly enjoyed spending time at their camp at Woodgate. The favorite aspect of her life, was enjoying time spent with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and family.
She is survived by five sons and daughters in law; Rick and Lori Lee, Boonville, and their family; Rieanna Lee, Mandi (Jason) Croniser; Randy (Renee) Lee, White Lake, and their family; Shannon Lee and Shawna Lee; Michael Lee (Christine Andrews), Boonville, and family; Brooklyn (Martin) Candee, Mikala and Mikey; Robert (Wendy) Lee, Boonville, and their family; Kristin Crowder, Megan (Aaron) Manning and Justine (Clayton) O’brien; Rodney (Jill) Lee, Boonville, and their family, Tucker, Owen and Jett; several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. The last of her family, Gladys was predeceased by three sisters, Beatrice Kent, Elizabeth Dowling, Iva Croniser and two brothers, Kenneth and Theodore Millard.
Her Funeral will be on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where calling hours will be also Saturday from 9:00-11:00 A.M. Interment will follow in Boonville Cemetery.
