Turin - Gerald I. Crofoot, 63, affectionately known as Ian, longtime resident of Turin, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, March 22, 2021. He was born on May 19, 1957 in Lowville, a son of Gerald and Mary E. Baxter Crofoot, and grew up in Constableville and Port Leyden, graduating from South Lewis Central School with the Class of 1976. Following his education Ian began his career in the carpentry and construction business working for Jesse Harvey. He eventually became a union carpenter working various building construction jobs in Utica, Rome, and Mohawk Valley area communities, retiring in October 2019. Mr. Crofoot was formerly married to Diane Waterman and they share a daughter Candace. Ian was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR, Pittsburgh Steeler Football, and basketball. He enjoyed playing golf, and in years past hunting as well. Time spent with his family and friends was cherished. He is survived by his siblings: Michael (Mary Sue) Crofoot, Floyd, Rae Fahey, Port Leyden, Peter (Kathy) Crofoot, and Gerry Crofoot, all of Boonville, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother Bruce Crofoot, and brother-in-law Gordon Fahey. A Memorial service will be held for family and close friends on Saturday, March 27, at 1:00 pm at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. There are no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday, MAY 8, 2021, At 12 Noon at Rural Cemetery, Constableville.
