Lyons Falls - Gary Stephen "Skip" Burdick, 62, of Lyonsdale Road passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Lewis County General Hospital in Lowville. He was born in Lowville on December 21, 1947, a son of Harry Dean and Mary Margaret (Gaffney) Burdick, and stepson of Margaret "Peg" (Potts) Burdick. Mr. Burdick was a lifelong resident of Lyons Falls and graduated from South Lewis Senior High School with the Class of 1968. While in high school, he enjoyed playing football, basketball and baseball. He later played town team softball in the Port Leyden and Lyons Falls areas. Skip also enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR and spending time with his family at their camp. On September 20, 1969 Gary was united in marriage with Sharon A. McLane at the Lowville United Methodist Church. He was employed at the Boonville Division of Ethan Allen Furniture Co. before starting at Burrows Paper Co. in Lyons Falls in 1970. He retired after thirty-nine years of service in December 2009 as head paper machine operator. In addition to his wife, Sharon, he is survived by four daughters, Kim Matuszczak and her husband, Steven, Kelly Santamour and her husband, Jamey, all of Port Leyden, Kristine Burdick and her fiancee, Steve Ellsworth of Oneida, and Kathy Burdick of Constableville; five grandchildren, Heather, Tyler, Derek, Shyann, and Savanah; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by his faithful dog "Buddy." Visitation hours are Wednesday 1-3 & 6-8 p.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street in Boonville. A graveside service will be held at Wildwood Cemetery in Lyons Falls in the spring.
