Boonville/Woodgate- Garrett C. Roseboom, 81, of Point Road, husband of Phyllis, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville. Affectionately known as Gary, was born in Cooperstown, on May 26, 1935, a son of William and Jennie Morrison Roseboom. Gary graduated from Cooperstown High School, with the Class of 1953. In 1954, he moved to Glenfield, where he joined his parents in the operation of their motel business and began his employment at Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome, retiring in 1988, as manager of Data Automation. During his employment at Griffiss, he studied and advanced in the new and ever expanding field of computer technology. On March 22, 1957, Gary was united in marriage with Jeanne M. Anna of Boonville. Jeanne and their son, William, both passed away in 1971. On June 15, 1974, Gary was united in marriage with Phyllis D. Frederick at the couple's home in Woodgate, by Rev. David Brettell, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Boonville. Mr. Roseboom was Charter Member # 123, and 60 year member of B.P.O.Elks # 2158 Boonville Lodge; during his long career of service to the Elks Lodge and to his community, Gary served in each of the 8 chairs of Lodge, becoming its Exalted Ruler for 1970-71. Afterwards he advanced to the office of Elks Lodge State Vice President and served as District Deputy GER, 1981-82. For thirty consecutive years, Gary was elected Secretary of Boonville Elks Lodge, retiring in April, 2015. He was a longtime active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Boonville, and was commissioned a Church Elder; later elected onto the Session, serving as its Clerk for many years and Commissioned Elder to the Presbytery of Utica. For many years, Gary enjoyed bowling on local bowling teams and he was an avid snowmobiler. He also greatly enjoyed water and snow skiing. He found great pleasure in constructing his A-frame home on White Lake, where he and Phyllis were married and had since resided. Gary greatly loved his wife, Phyllis and their son, Jarrett who brought Gary many years of pleasure and pride. In addition to his wife and son, Jarrett and his fiance, Madeline Sanchez, Farmington, NH, his brother, Allyn and his wife, Sally, of Rome, and their children, David and Tracy, Gary is also survived by a brother in law, Ronald (Cher) Frederick, FL and their children, David and Michelle; three sisters in law, of Boonville, Lynda Frederick, Jeanne Mack and her daughter, Angie and Vickie VerSchneider and her children, Christina and Jonathan. His Funeral will be Wednesday at 12 Noon at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Pastor George Whitton, a former pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Boonville, will officiate. Interment will follow in Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The Memorial Service will be performed by the Central Past District Deputies and Boonville Elks Lodge on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc.
