Gail S. 'Hoedy' Pruckno

Boonville - Gail S. Pruckno, of Summit St., affectionately known as "Hoedy" to many people, wife of Joseph, died on, Monday, September 26, 2011, at St. Luke's memorial Hospital, New Hartford, from a long battle with cancer. She was born to Joseph and Marjorie (Hoit) Smith, on May 6, 1954, in New Hartford. A lifelong resident of Boonville, she graduated from Adirondack Central School in June, 1972. She married Donald Kornmeyer on June 8, 1974. That marriage ended in divorce. She later married her present husband, best friend and buddy Joseph M. Pruckno on July 6, 1991. She worked at Ethan Allen, from October 1984, until its closing in 2004. After the closing of Ethan Allen, Gail chose to go to Lewis County BOCES and take the Business Computer Technology Class that was offered along with several other Ethan Allen employees who chose to further their education. She, along with her coworkers, graduated in June of 2005 with honors, something which she was very proud of. After graduation from BOCES, Gail went to work for Adelphia Communications, and thereafter, Time Warner Cable. Her last employer was Griffith Energy in Rome. She was an active participant in the Boonville Relay for Life Planning Committee, looking forward to the event every year. She hopes that with her passing, that people will become more involved in the fight against cancer and make this annual event bigger, better, and more successful every year. Of the Catholic faith, Gail also was a member of the Boonville Elks Lodge 2158, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and the Boonville VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Gail loved her family greatly; in addition to her husband, Joe, she is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-law, whom she is very proud of: Bradley J. Kornmeyer, Remsen, and Robert J. & Erika Kornmeyer, Plattsburgh, NY. One Brother Kevin Smith, Madison, NY; three sisters, Sharon Belyea, Laurie & George Capron, all of Boonville, Licia & Steven Mackey, Glenns Falls, NY; and one very special friend, for many years, Carol & Ernie Kunz of West Leyden. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. In lieu of flowers, Gail requested that those desiring may make memorial contributions to American Cancer Society's Boonville Relay for Life, by going to Boonville's Relay for Life web page, @ www.relayforlife.org, and specify a team, or a general contribution maybe made. Contributions to the Relay for Life may also be sent by mail to American Cancer Society, East Division, 100 Lomond Ct., C/O Robert Elinskas, Utica, NY 13502. Her funeral will be Thursday at 10:00 A.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. and at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church, both in Boonville, where Rev. Sean Patrick O'Brien, pastor, will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Boonville. Visitation hours are Wednesday, 1-4 & 6-9 P.M. at the funeral home.
