Frederick Dennis Vollmar, 74, of Miller Woods Road, husband of Luella, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at St. Elizabethï¿(TM)s Medical Center, Utica, after a long illness. A native of Remsen he was born on October 7, 1931, a son of Albert J. and Martha Oï¿(TM)Brien Vollmar. As a child he moved to Port Leyden, where he attended high school. Later he was employed at Rice Veneer Mfg. Co. of McKeever. He married Joan Snyder, and later the couple divorced. In 1956 Mr. Vollmar entered the U.S. Navy serving at the U.S. Naval Base at Norfolk Va., being honorably discharged from the service in November, 1957. On August 5, 1957, he was united in marriage with Luella M. Yager at Norfolk Virginia. In 1960 they moved to their home on Miller Woods Road. After his service in the Navy he returned to his employment at the veneer company and then for a time Mr. Vollmar was employed at H.R. Meyers Lumber Co. of Boonville. After that he was employed for Ronald Cyr in the furnace repair division of Adirondack Oil Co., Boonville, and then for Julian Egnaczyk as manager of the furnace repair business at Boonville Heating and Oil Co. For twenty years he operated his own furnace and heating repair business known as Fredï¿(TM)s Furnace Repair Business. Mr. Vollmar was a member of the Hawkinsville United Methodist Church, and a past Exalted Ruler of Boonville Elks Lodge # 2158. He enjoyed hunting with various friends. In addition to his wife, Luella, he is survived by three daughters; Kathy Vollmar, Glenfield, Sherry Russell and husband, Edward, Lyons Falls, Christine McCauley, Port Leyden, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, two brothers; Raymond D. Vollmar, Carthage, Richard Vollmar, Seattle, WA., one sister; Joyce Kendall and husband, Larry, Booneville, Miss., and an aunt, Jessie Vollmar, Port Leyden. His Funeral will be Friday at 3 P.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Pastor Joan Ripp of the Hawkinsville United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment with military honors from Charles J. Love Post American Legion, Harland J. Hennessey Post V.F.W. and Tun Tavern Marine Corps League will follow at Port Leyden Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday 12 Noon-3 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hawkinsville United Methodist Church.
