Peekskill- Franklin J. MeKeel, 46, of Cottage Street, longtime resident of Forestport, passed away on August 24, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. Frank was born on April 3, 1970 in Poughkeepsie, the son of Franklin F. and Patricia O'Dell MeKeel. He grew up in Poughkeepsie before moving to Old Forge to live with his aunt. He was a graduate of the Town of Webb Union Free School District. Frank was then employed with the Town of Webb Highway Department, before he began his employment with the New York State Department of Transportation, Alder Creek, where he was a heavy equipment operator. On July 21, 2007, Frank was married to Rebecca Loucks. He was an avid hunter and fisherman of the Adirondacks around Old Forge as well as the Forestport area. He is survived by his children from a previous marriage: Kimberly MeKeel, Meghan MeKeel and Mary MeKeel, all of Utica, a step-son Justin Knapp, Lowville, his sisters: Patty MeKeel and Tammy MeKeel, both of Poughkeepsie. Also surviving is his ex-wife Rebecca Loucks. He was predeceased by his infant son Angelo MeKeel on February 16, 2006. Funeral Services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are in care of the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville. Memorial contributions may be made to Old Forge Fire Dept.
