Franklin B. 'Frank' Persons

~~Boonville- Franklin B. Persons, 84, a resident of Millers Woods Road, since 1978, widower of Dorothy M., passed away at his residence, after a brief illness, on Sunday, April 23, 2017, while surrounded by the loving care of his family and Hospice. He was born on February 7, 1933, in Ticonderoga, a son of Byron and Doris Cleveland Persons. Frank grew up in the vicinity of Adirondack, and Pottersville, NY, (both Warren County), where he completed his education at Pottersville High School. After completing his education, Frank began his long career as a heavy equipment operator in highway and other large construction projects. From 1966, until his retirement in 1988, Mr. Persons was employed for the Engineers Joint Union Local 545, Syracuse, NY. He was employed on many construction sites throughout New York State, retiring from the 9 Mile Point Nuclear Power Plant construction project in Oswego. On December 7, 1952, Frank was united in marriage with Dorothy M. Harvey. This was a loving union which endured for over 64 years and on October 27, 1975, the couple renewed their vows at St. Josephs Church, Boonville. Dorothy passed away on January 25, 2017. Mr. Persons was a member of St. Josephs Church, Boonville. He was also a member of Engineers Joint Union Local 545 Union, Syracuse, NY. Frank greatly enjoyed repairing small engines and motors. For many years following his retirement, he operated a small engine repair business at his residence. For many years he and Dorothy greatly enjoyed snowmobiling; each winter they rode many miles throughout upstate New York. Frank also served as Team Mechanic for a snowmobile racing team from the Boonville area. He is survived by his six children, Wayne (Jackie Ball) Rome, Sandra (George) Tourgee, Lakeville, MA, Donna (James) Mitchell, Irvington, KY, Franklin (Daryl) and DeeDee (Keith) Gardner, both Boonville, and Renee (Robert) Lamach, Verona; thirteen grandchildren, Bobbie Jo Williamson, George Tourgee, Jr, David Tourgee, Michael Garyantes, II, Raymond Garyantes, Frank Persons, III, Tabatha Wilcox, Amber Persons, Matthew Gardner, MacKenzie Gardner, Michael Gardner, Gabriel Lamach and Gavin Lamach; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great grandchildren and one sister and brother in law, Martha (Jerry) Galusha, Olmstedville, NY, and two nieces. A prayer service will be Wednesday at 1:15 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, and at 2:00 P.M. at Christ Our Hope Catholic Community, at St, Josephs Church, Boonville, where Rev. Thomas A. Ward, pastor, will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. A committal service for Franklin and his wife Dorothy, who passed away on January 25, 2017, will follow in St. Josephs Cemetery, Boonville. Calling hours are Tuesday 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
