Frank H. Perry

January 6, 1930 — September 2, 2008

Ava - Frank H. Perry, 78, a long time resident of Vary Road, husband of the late Marion, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica, after a brief illness. Mr. Perry was born in Rome on January 6, 1930, a son of Edward and Frances Smith Perry. He grew up in Rome, where he received his education. In 1953 he entered the U.S. Army, was stationed in the United States and received his honorable discharge in 1955. Before and after his service in the military, he was employed as a wire strander for a total of 28 years at Camden Wire Co. After that he was employed as a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Ava Highway Dept. On October 26, 1951, Frank was united in marriage with Marion Sasenbury at the First Presbyterian Church of Rome. Later in the 1950's the couple moved to their present home near Ava. Mrs. Perry died on January 20, 2007. Mr. Perry greatly enjoyed photography and developing pictures, camping, fishing, gardening and wood cutting. For eight years he served as a volunteer in patient activities at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Boonville. He is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law: Sheila Traxel and her husband, Lynn, and Sandra Adsit, all of Ava; four grandchildren, Carl, Janice, Audrey and Victoria; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward Perry, New London; three sisters, Betty Smith of Floyd, Mary Conover of Durhamville, and Charlotte Martzloff of North Bay. He was predeceased by a sister, Edna Ammon, on December 14, 1978. His Funeral Service will be Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, with interment to follow in Ava Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Resident Activities Fund, 232 Academy St. Boonville, N.Y. 13309.
