Francis H. Fetterly

Francis H. Fetterly, 85, husband of Alice, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2007, in Oswego. Mr. Fetterly was born on May 27, 1921, in New Bremen, NY to Orrin and Ethel (Muncy) Fetterly. Most of his life was spent in Oswego. During WWII Francis served his country as a military equipment operator in the U.S. Army, and Air Force, receiving an Honorable Discharge in March, 1944. After serving in the military he returned to Oswego, where he was employed as a member of Teamsters Local 317, until his retirement. Francis was an avid hunter and fishermen, who held a deep appreciation for nature and wildlife, and loved nothing more than to go for a ride to Lake Ontario with his beloved dog Zach. On September 25, 1949, Francis was united in marriage with Alice E. Thurston, in Sayre, PA. He is survived by his wife, Alice, Oswego, one daughter and son in law, Joyce F. and David Payne, Boonville, two sons and daughters in law; Francis D. and Kelly Fetterly, Oswego, Joseph and Mary Thurston, Number Four, NY. He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Brian Shoemaker, William F. Payne, Ryan and Dara Payne, all of Boonville, and Sarah Fetterly, Oswego, two very special great granddaughters that he adored; Ireland Payne, and Haven Shoemaker, both of Boonville. He is also survived by five siblings, Gladys, Harold, Jimmy, Earl and Ruth. He was predeceased by one brother, Larry, and three sisters; Helen, Anna and Marie. In keeping with Mr. Fetterlyï¿(TM)s wishes there will be no calling hours, and a private graveside service for family members will be in Boonville Cemetery, where Rev. William A. Mudge, pastor of Boonville United Methodist Church will officiate.
