Frances R. Buneo

January 8, 1926 — August 6, 2017

~~Port Leyden, NY - Frances R. Buneo, 91, was called home to God on Sunday, August 6, 2017. Frances was born in Highmarket, NY on her parents farm, January 8, 1926, to Mary (Kolek) and Joseph Domagala. She was the youngest of seven children. She attended the Highmarket one-room schoolhouse and completed an 8th grade education at Constableville Central School. Frances moved to New York City with her mother after the death of her father where she worked at the Bulova watch factory. Frances enlisted in the Army Air Force During WWII where her duties included office clerk and nursing assistant to our wounded soldiers. Frances was honorable discharged at the rank of Corporal after the war and returned home to northern New York where she then enrolled in the Watertown School of Commerce. On May 29, 1948, Frances married her one and only love, John Buneo at St. Hedwigs Catholic Church in Houseville, NY with Rev. Lambert Sidor officiating. They were married for 68 wonderful years and ran the Far View Stock Farm in Port Leyden. They raised five children and took care of her mother, Mary, for 25 years. Frances loved to cook and bake and was happiest making sure everyone had a good meal. Her pride and joy was raising her family, but she always extended her welcome to anyone who came over, often helping those less fortunate. She loved gardening, sewing, crafts, birds, polka dances and was an avid reader. Frances enjoyed sharing her Polish customs, especially during the holidays. No matter what she did, it was always with a smile and it is for this she will be greatly remembered. Frances was a member of St. Martins Catholic Church, Port Leyden and the Charles J. Love American Legion Post 406, Boonville. Frances is survived by her daughter Yvonne (Don), Phoenix, AZ; son Timothy, Ventura, CA; daughter Donna, Utica, NY; daughter Amy (Lou), Minneapolis, MN; daughter-in-law Mary Ann, Victor, NY; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
