Boonville- Frances N. Lahah, 97, widow of Dean L., passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at her home under the loving care of her children and Hospice. Frances was born on January 26, 1918 in Boonville a daughter of Frank and Jennie Chase Hess. She grew up in Boonville where she was educated. On November 5, 1934 Frances was united in marriage with Dean L. Lahah in Forestport. Following their marriage Frances was employed in various local businesses including Blankman's 5 & 10, and Shefield Farms Milk Plant. In the 1960's, together with her husband Dean, the couple established Elf Stand Furniture Co., an unfinished furniture business that was operated out of their home on Route 12, just outside of the Village of Boonville. They worked side by side until Dean passed away on May 25, 1996. Following her husband's death Frances operated the furniture business with her children until her retirement in 2008. Frances was a talented seamstress, making outfits for her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and will be fondly remembered for her cream puffs, oatmeal cookies, and fried bread dough. Around the Holidays, her strawberry pie was requested by everyone. Frances is survived by her two sons, Levere Lahah, and Carlton (Darlene) Lahah, both of Boonville, her daughter Frances (James) Walter, Barneveld; five grandchildren: Lori(Rick) Lee, Boonville, Roberta Ruffrage, Barneveld, Carl J. (Peggy) Lahah, Jordan, NY, Kenneth (Valerie) Newvine, Boonville, and Keven (Elaine) Newvine, Port Leyden. Also surviving are 13 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her sister Helen Mercurio, and brothers Robert and William Hess. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at 4:00 pm at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Pastor David Hedeen, of the Boonville Alliance Church, will officiate. Interment will be held on Monday at 10 am in Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 1:00 pm until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413. Frances's family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Adam Siegers, the Hospice staff: Melissa, Jennifer and Danielle, as well as Dr. Booth for helping them bring Mom home.
