Frances E. Rowlands

Remsen- Frances (Casler) Rowlands, 91, formerly of Evans Road, widow of Edward H, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, where she had resided since February 7, 2011. She was born in Rome, on May 30, 1921, a daughter of Frank and Thirza Teachout Casler. Frances grew up in Rome, where she graduated from Rome Free Academy with the Class of 1939. On November 21, 1940, Frances was united in marriage with Edward H. Rowlands, at the home of the bride in Rome. After that the couple moved to the Rowlands homestead farm, on the Evans Road in the Town of Steuben, where she lived until entering the nursing home. Mr. Rowlands, a 35 year employee of the NYS Department of Transportation in highway maintenance, out of Alder Creek, died on December 24, 2003. Mrs. Rowlands was a member of the Remsen United Methodist Church. Frances loved her family and her station in life as a wife and home maker. She is survived by one son and daughter in law, William (Janet) Rowland, one daughter, Geraldine Coe, Steuben; six grandchildren, Diane and Jeff Ward, Jody and Mel Smith, Darlene and Tom Bourgeois, Jill and Mike Will, Bill and Jessica Rowlands all of Remsen, Donna and Bill Phillips, Boonville; 18 great grandchildren, Amanda Krebs, Branden Ward, Craig and Keith Smith, Dawn and Amber Schrader, Ashley Paciello, Kayla Bourgeois, Devin, Julee, Megan, Logan Will, William, Jacob, Joshua, Reese Rowlands, Kyle and Katelyn Phillips and one great great grandson, Benjamin Paciello. Frances was predeceased by three grandchildren, Julee Rowlands Schrader, in 1994, and Douglas Coe and Jeffrey Rowlands, as infants. Also surviving is a sister in law, Sally Casler, Rome. She was predeceased by a brother, John, and two sisters, Lucille Dodson, and Pauline Law, and a son in law, Walter Coe. Her Funeral will be Tuesday, March 5, at 2:00 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Rev. Kent Douglas Trievel, pastor of the Remsen United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Fairchild Cemetery, Remsen. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1 P.M. until the funeral. Memorial contributions may be made to Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Resident Activities Fund, 232 Academy St. Boonville, NY 13309.
