Boonville - Frances C. (Maher) Moore, 100, of Schuyler Street, formerly of Utica, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, August 11, 2010. She was born in Middletown, CT on July 27, 1910, a daughter of James and Mary (Calahan) Maher. Frances grew up in Utica where she graduated from Utica Free Academy with the Class of 1929. She attended the Rochester Dental Dispensary and returned to Utica, where she was employed as a dental hygienist for Utica area dentists and the Utica City School District. On October 19, 1940, Frances was united in marriage with Maurice F. Sheehan at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica. In 1955, she and Mr. Sheehan constructed and founded the "Pied Piper" ice cream and food stand on Route 28 in Old Forge. She and her family operated this business until it was sold in 1958. Frances and Mr. Sheehan were founding members of Upstate Cerebral Palsy Association (of Utica). Mr. Sheehan died on October 5, 1958. On April 27, 1961, Frances was united in marriage with Attorney Albert V. Moore at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City. The couple made their home on Schuyler Street in Boonville. Mr. Moore, a long-time Boonville area attorney, died on September 4, 1987. Mrs. Moore was a member of St. Joseph's Church of Boonville. For many years she and the late Mrs. Louise Hammond were the co-chairs of the American Red Cross Blood Drive in Boonville. She served on the Board of Directors of Upstate Cerebral Palsy for several years. She is survived by a son, John M. Sheehan, and his wife Anchalee, of Port Townsend, WA; two daughters, Anne S. Garbarino and her husband Louis, of Old Forge, and Karin Moore Beckert of Boonville; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Maurice F. Sheehan, Jr., on April 5, 1955. The last of her family, she was also predeceased by a brother and two sisters, J. Sexton Maher, Anne Hameline and Eleanor Maher. Her funeral will be on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Boonville, where Rev. Sean Patrick O'Brien, Pastor will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. Visitation is Sunday 4-7 p.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville.
