Rome ï¿" Florence M. Platt, 93, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at Rome Memorial Hospital, while surrounded by her loving family. A daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Kirk Seelman, she was born on November 12, 1917. Florence spent her youth in Floyd, before moving to West Leyden where she attended rural schools. For a short time during WWII, Florence was employed by the Rome Cable Co. After the war, Florence married and started a family. Florence is survived by her loving children: a son, Arnold, Taberg, a daughter, Arlene Platt, Hastings, a son, Walter (Diane), Syracuse, a son Jerome (Mel), Oriskany, a daughter Betty (Walter) Supernaw, Camden, a son, Randall (Kathy), Rome, and a son Brian, of Rome. Florence is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by an infant son, Ralph, in 1943. The last of her siblings, she was also predeceased by three brothers, and two sisters. Relatives are invited to attend a graveside service, on Friday, October 28, 2011, at 1:00 pm at St. Maryï¿(TM)s Cemetery, West Leyden.
