Evelyn Warren Wheelock, age 87, of Clarendon, New York, died Wednesday, September 6, 2006, in La Crescenta, California. She had been a long-time resident of the Rockhaven Home, Montrose, California. Evelyn was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on July 14, 1919, the daughter of the late Edward Thomas and Emily Daisy Warren. The family moved to Clarendon, NY, where Evelyn attended Holly High School and Fredonia State Teachers College. She taught music, was an avid piano player, studied library science and genealogy, and devoted herself to caring for her family. During her marriage to the late Alton Ray Wheelock Jr. of North Collins, NY, Evelyn lived in North Collins, NY; Germany; Fort Monmouth, NJ; Shrewsbury, MA; Watertown, MA; Tampa, FL; Falls Church, VA; Alexandria, VA; and Charlottesville, VA. She is survived by her three children: Tom Wheelock and his wife Victoria of Hedgesville, WV., Sherry Wheelock of Sierra Madre, CA., and Kevin Wheelock and his wife Laurie of Manassas, VA.; five grandchildren: Ashley, Heather and Kyle Wheelock, all of Manassas, VA, and Christopher and Michael Wheelock, both from Sierra Madre, CA; one brother: Bill Warren of Delmar, NY, one sister: Clarice Warren Start of Kalamazoo, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her brother Edward Warren, and sister Edna Warren Moss, preceded her in death. Clarice Start was married to the late Lester Jackson Start, who was born in Utica, NY, became professor emeritus of philosophy at Kalamazoo College, Kalamazoo, MI, and is buried in Remsen, NY. The family is holding visitation from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday 14 September at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville, NY. The Eucharist Service will be offered at 10 AM on Friday September 15th at Trinity Episcopal Church, Schuyler Street, Boonville. Burial will follow at the Sixty Acres Cemetery, Remsen, NY.
