Boonville- Evelyn (Post) Johnson, 81, of Ford St., widow of Elmer N. and a former resident of Rt. 12, Port Leyden, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at St. Luke's Memorial Hospital, New Hartford. She was born in Talcottville, on July 2, 1935, a daughter of Merle Eward and Jessie Riebennacht Post. Evelyn graduated from Port Leyden Central School, with the Class of 1955.Thereafter, Evelyn was employed at Port Leyden Knitting Mill, Lally Mfg. Co., Port Leyden, Ethan Allen, and she retired from CON Med, Utica, NY, in April, 2009. On March 24, 1956, Evelyn was united in marriage with Elmer N. Johnson, Jr. of Boonville, at the First Congregational Church of Port Leyden. This was a loving union which endured for 38 years and born out of this union was a daughter, Susan Mae. From 1977, until 1995, Evelyn and Elmer owned and operated Bill's Grocery Market in Port Leyden. Mr. Johnson, a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict era, passed away on March 13, 1995. Mrs. Johnson was of the Protestant faith, a member of Harland J. Hennessey Post V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, Boonville, Charles J. Love Post America Legion, Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the Polish Home of Rome. She loved her family and her four legged friend, Hattie that was always by her side. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Aubrey, Port Leyden, her grandson, Timothy George Kranbuhl, and his wife, Roxanne, and a great-granddaughter, Elise Kranbuhl, Turin; three sisters, Mary (Rick) Martin, Janice (Anthon y) Belmont, Port Leyden and Patricia Morse, Boonville; two sisters - in- law, Dolores Post and Sarah Johnson. Also survived are many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Merle James "Jim" Post, in 2001, and by two sisters; Charlotte Ann Post, in 1943 and Rosemary Miller, in 2003 and two brothers in law, Lloyd Miller and Frank Johnson. A Memorial Service will be Tuesday at 4:00 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Pastor Denise Bowen, of the Boonville United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in the spring in Port Leyden Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday 2-4 P.M. at the funeral home.
