Barneveld- Eveline P. McCluskey, 94, of Acacia Village, formerly of Boon St. Barneveld, widow of Thomas J., passed away on Friday, September 9, 2016, at St. Luke's Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Eveline was born in Utica, on September 19, 1921, the daughter of Humphrey J. and Frances Dicker Perry. She was raised on the Mapledale Road, Holland Patent. She was one of the last surviving attendees of the Wethersfield one-room schoolhouse, completing her education at Holland Patent High School, graduating with the Class of 1939. Eveline then attended and graduated in 1940 from the Excelsior School of Business, Utica. For a time she was employed as a secretary at Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome, and then as a teller at Oneida National Bank, Holland Patent. On October 12, 1946, Eveline was united in marriage with Thomas J. McCluskey, at St. Leo's Church, Holland Patent. In 1953 the couple moved to Barneveld where they raised their family. In 2013 they moved to Acacia Village at the Masonic Care Community. Mr. McCluskey, a WWII Army veteran and retiree of the NYS Tax Dept., Utica, passed away on October 4, 2014. Eveline enjoyed traveling with her husband, birdwatching and golfing at Glass Hill Golf Course,Trenton Falls. She was an active member of the Barneveld Senior Citizens, and former member of the Mappa Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Barneveld. Eveline is survived by her daughter Kathy and son in law, Ivor Jones, Canajoharie, NY, a daughter in law, Christine Callan McCluskey, Remsen, NY. She was predeceased by a son, Kevin T. McCluskey, and by a great granddaughter, Randi Jones. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Price Jones and wife, Christine Powell Jones, Perkasie, PA, Bevan Jones and wife Sandra Boise Jones, Smyrna, NY, Waylon Jones, and wife, Vanessa DeRoux, Duvall, WA, Tristan Jones and wife, Rev. Amy Beth Wellman, Jones, Scotch Plains, NJ, Jason McCluskey, Nevada City, CA, and Amy McCluskey, Syracuse, NY; seven great grandchildren, Ryan, Riley, Gavin, Collin, Lilly, Sam, and Owen, niece and nephews: Erma and Howard "Butch" Gilbert, James Perry, and Warren and Nancy Perry. She was also predeceased by her brothers Ira and Merwin Perry, and nieces Barbara Linck and Irene Runburg. Eveline's family will receive friends and relatives in the Multi-Purpose Room at Acacia Village at the Masonic Care Facility, 2160 Bleecker St. Utica, on Monday, September 19, from 11am to 1pm. A Memorial Service will be held at 1pm, followed by a celebration of her 95th birthday. Interment in Holland Patent Cemetery will be held at 4pm. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established to purchase a swing to be placed on the grounds at Acacia Village in memory of Tom and Eveline.
