Ervin J. Hoffert, 83, a native of the Town of Lewis, passed away Monday, August 13, 2007 at the Lewis County Extended Care Facility, Lowville. He was born June 14, 1924, a son of Frank and Carrie Shake Hoffert, at Sunset Corners, Town of Lewis, where he grew up on a farm. Most of his life was spent in the West Leyden area where he had been employed on area farms. For many years Ervin worked at the Rimiller Mill, West Leyden. Before entering the Extended Care Facility he resided at the Weber Adult Home, Port Leyden. Ervin was a member of St. Peter & Paulï¿(TM)s Church, Fish Creek. He is survived by one sister: Margaret Hoffert of Boonville. He was predeceased by seven sisters: Cecelia Hines, Mary Hoffert, Rose Roberts, Bertha Hoffert, Anna Olney, Clara Parsons and Theresa Hoffert, and three brothers: Raymond, Leo and Edward. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday at St. Maryï¿(TM)s Nativity Church, West Leyden, with Rev. Lawrence Marullo, Pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Peter & Paulï¿(TM)s Cemetery, Fish Creek. A period of visitation will be held from 9 to 9:30 am Thursday at the Trainor Funeral Home, 143 Schuyler St., Boonville.
