Lowville- Ernestine G. Regetz, 96, of Valley View Apartments and formerly of Constableville and Turin, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Lewis County Extended Facility, Lowville.
Ernestine was born in Rome, NY, on February 13, 1927, a daughter of Ernest J. Greene and Cynthia Mae Allan Greene. She grew up in Rome, and graduated from Rome Free Academy with the Class of 1944. On June 14, 1947, Ernestine married Donald W. Regetz, Sr., at the First Baptist Church of Rome. Afterwards the couple lived in the Coon Rod section of Rome, until 1950, then they moved to Highmarket Road, near Constableville, where they assumed operation of the Regetz Family Homestead Farm. Later the couple divorced, and Ernestine moved to East Main St., Turin, where she resided until 2009, when she moved to Valley View in Lowville.
She was a longtime active member of the Turin United Methodist Church, serving as Treasurer and Financial Secretary of the church. She was also a member and past president of the Turin Civic Club, a member and Trustee of Turin Cemetery Association and served on the Town and Village of Turin Election Board.
Ernestine is survived by her children; Cynthia (William) Regetz-Aloisio, Port Leyden, NY, Mary Ann (James) Koch, Deer River, NY; Patricia Strassner, Verona, PA; Donald Jr. (Gracia) Regetz, Lowville, NY; Gerald (Vicki) Regetz, Midlothian, VA; and John (Susan) Regetz, Franklin, WI; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Greene, Vestal, NY; sister, Sandra M. Greene; sister-in-law, Winnie Regetz, Boonville and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Robert E. Regetz; sister, Esther Mae Duerr, infant sister, Harriet Louise Greene, brothers-in-law Glenn Duerr, Gerald Regetz and sisters-in-law: Elda Dickinson, Marie Greene, and Helen Arnold Greene.
Her Funeral Service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at the Turin United Methodist Church, East Main St. Turin, where a calling hour will be from 10:00 A.M. until the service at 11:00. Interment will follow in Turin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Ernestine requested that contributions be made to the Turin United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 9, Turin, NY 13473.
