Herkimer- Ernest R. Wood, 84, of 105 Protection Ave., a former resident of Kortenaer Village in Boonville, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2006, at the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home in Ilion. Mr. Wood was born in Cooperstown, on September 25, 1921, a son of William J. and Alice Chuwb Wood. He grew up in Raquette Lake, where he attended school. From 1942, until his honorable discharge on November 17, 1945, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps, 4th Division in the South Pacific Theater of W.W. II. After the war, he settled in Eagle Bay, where he was employed as a plumber for many years. He moved to Boonville, in November of 1989. He was a life member of Harland J. Hennessey Post V.F.W. of Boonville. Mr. Wood is survived by two daughters; Bonnie and Tammy. A son Ernest R. Wood predeceased him. He is also survived by a sister Peggy Colberg of California. He was predeceased by a sister, Helen Hischer, and by three brothers; Prentice Wood, Josiah Wood, and Gerald Wood. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a grave side funeral service on Thursday at 10:00 A.M. at White Lake Cemetery, Woodgate, where Rev. William A. Mudge, pastor of the Boonville United Methodist Church, and members of Harland J. Hennessey Post V.F.W., Charles J. Love Post American Legion, and the Tun Tavern Marine Corps League, all of Boonville, will provide Military Rites. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Boonville Fire Co. Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 64, Boonville, NY 13309. Arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
