Old Forge - Eric Stuart Kaiding, 70, of Old Forge, formerly Boonville, NY, died December 13, 2021 in his home with his loving wife beside him. He was born June 8, 1951 in Boonville, NY, the son of Stuart and Julia (Casler) Kaiding. Eric graduated from Boonville High School, Class of 1969. After graduation, he worked at Kodak, followed by Durans in Boston, MA confecting. Eric was drafted and served with the US Army and stationed in various areas in Vietnam. He returned home with army commendations and many other metals before being honorable discharged. After the war, in 1975 Eric married his soulmate Susan Parsons, his wife of 46 years. They had 2 daughters, Sierra (Kaiding) Servadio, and Rya (Kaiding) Kirschner. Eric worked at Rome Cable for 13 years before becoming an employee at USPS until retirement. In Eric's younger years he excelled in all the activities. He loved motocross and raced Honda's in the Central NY Motocross Riders Association. He won many trophies in different classes for motocross. He became a marathon runner after joining the Steuben Striders running group. He was ranked in the top 2% of marathon runners in the US in the late 80's. After running, he became a regular at the Boonville Health and Fitness Center and enjoyed bodybuilding. He had many great friends at the Fitness center including Linda Lee. Eric had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with his family swimming and jet skiing in Old Forge, downhill skiing, biking, hiking and vacationing in the Caribbean. Eric loved his wife and girls with all his heart and would later become a grandfather, to 3 boys, Genaro, Samuel and Silas Servadio, one of his greatest gifts. Eric's family knew him as a kind and mild-mannered man. He had a good sense of humor and made everyone laugh. His family has so many great memories of their time together. Eric developed Dementia and Parkinsons in his early 60's and his wife cared for him and was by his side until the very end. She was a wonderful caretaker to him and was a great example to her family of how to love someone sacrificially. Eric enjoyed annual visits from his dear friend Robby Hess and his wife, Letitia. He developed friendships with those who helped the family including Audrey Nelson, Mike Schepple and family and Marty Zarnock and family. His caretakers, Diane, Sandy, Tammy, Pam and others. A special thank you to Bob and Margaret Diorio and their daughters Alex and Mia of Old Forge, NY who are always there for us and became part of our family. Eric is survived by his beloved wife, Susan (Parsons) Kaiding, his daughter Sierra Servadio and her husband John and their 3 boys Genaro, Samuel and Silas Servadio of Remsen, NY; daughter Rya Kirschner and her husband Nate of Victor, Idaho; sister Shelly Hamel of Jamesville, NY; brother Neil Kaiding in Sanford NC; sister Bonnie Phelps and husband Terry of Derby Kansas; brother in law Howie and Mary Parsons of Taberg NY; sister in law Mary Parsons of Oneida, NY; several cherished nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Friday December 17, 2021, from 1-4 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where services will begin at 4:00 P.M. also on Friday. Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at 12 Noon, at Boonville Cemetery, where members of Charles J. Love Post 406 American Legion, Harland J. Hennessey Post V.F.W. and the Tun Tavern Marine Corps League will provide Military Rites.
