Port Leyden- Emerson M. Wood, 81, of North Pearl St, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2012, at Lewis Co. General Hospital, Lowville, after a short illness. He was born in Lyons Falls on January 28, 1931, a son of Hubert and Helen Leaf Wood. He received his education at the Gouldtown School in the Town of Lyonsdale. On December 11, 1953, Mr. Wood was united in marriage to Pearl Farr, in Port Leyden. His first employment was at Burrows Paper Co. of Lyonsdale; in the middle 1960's the couple moved to Plainfield, CT, where Emerson was employed as a paper roller operator for Federal Paper Board Co. of Sprauge, CT, retiring in 1993. At that time the couple returned to Port Leyden. Mrs. Wood died on May 21, 2001. Emerson greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. He enjoyed playing pitch. He is survived by one daughter and son in law, Carol and Gary White, Lyons Falls; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Thomas and by a great granddaughter, Nicole Lee White, on January 2, 2000. Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 5:00 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. where Pastor Jeff Ford of the Bible Fellowship Church of Lyons Falls will officiate. Interment will be in Wild Wood Cemetery, Lyons Falls. Calling hours are Wednesday 3 p.m. until the time of the funeral at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Port Leyden or Lyons Falls Fire Department Ambulance Funds.
