Elizabeth R. 'Betty' Moselle

Boonville - Elizabeth "Betty" Reed Moselle, 89, formerly of State Route 12, Alder Creek, and more recently of Kortenaer Village, Boonville, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2010 at the Heritage Health Care Center, Utica. Betty was born near Remsen on May 25, 1921, a daughter of A. Roy and Nina (Hitchcock) Dickinson. She grew up in Remsen, where she received her education. On June 23, 1937, Elizabeth was united in marriage with Fay J. Reed at the Boonville Methodist Church. The couple made their home near Alder Creek, where they lived for many years. Mr. Reed, an employee at Boonville Agway and a former Justice of the Peace, died on June 14, 1970. For many years Betty was employed as a clerk at the former Hills Department Store and Victory Supermarket, both in Boonville. For eight years she served as a Justice of the Peace for the Town of Boonville. On August 3, 1974, she was married to Frank W. Moselle at Boonville United Methodist Church. Mr. Moselle, a veteran of WWII, died on February 20, 2008. She was a member of the Boonville Alliance Church, and greatly enjoyed oil painting, making ceramics, and operating her ceramic shop. Betty is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Frederick and Nancy Reed of Perry, NY; a daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Ed McFadden of Yorkville; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Ida Moselle, of the Heritage Home. She was predeceased by a son, Archie Reed, and as the last of four siblings, her three sisters, Lorna Kent, Katherine Fanning, and Lylith Wells. Also surviving are cherished friends, Haily, Angel, Dorothy, and Gary, for which she had a very special place in her heart, and special friends, Dottie, Darlene, and other good friends at Kortenaer Village. Her funeral will be will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville, where Pastor David Hedeen of the Boonville Alliance Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Alder Creek Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to her family.
