New Hartford - Elizabeth L. Witzigman, 79, wife of Donald C., affectionately known as Betty, longtime resident of Upper Woods Circle, and formerly of Holland Patent, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2017. Elizabeth was born in Boonville on April 30, 1937 a daughter of Wallace and Marie Dragan Jackson. She was raised in Boonville graduating from Boonville Central School with the Class of 1955. Betty then attended the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, Utica, graduating with her Registered Nurses Degree with the Class of 1958. Elizabeth was employed for a time as a medical/surgical nurse with Dr. Albert Shaheen of Utica, before her work at local hospitals; she was a retiree from the Slocum Dickson Medical Group. On August 22, 1959, Elizabeth was united in marriage with Donald C. Witzigman at St. Joseph's Church, Boonville, with Rev. Robert Donovan officiating. The couple then moved to Holland patent, where they resided for 17 years before moving to their current home in New Hartford. Betty was of the catholic faith, and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, where she was also a member of the women's club. Elizabeth was also a member of the St. Elizabeth's Alumni Association. She was a member of local chapters of the Red Hat Society, and found great enjoyment in the time she spent with her grandchildren. Besides her husband Donald, Betty is survived by her daughters: Karen (Larry) Gardner, Boonville, Ellen Teachout, Whitesboro, her grandchildren: Christopher (Soleil) Witzigman, Brian (Tori) Marsden, Kaitlyn Mars, and Nicholas Teachout, five great-grandchildren: Landon, Emmit, Wyatt, Emiley, and Madeline, her sister Donna (George) Kline, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson Justin Witzigman, and her brother Richard Jackson. Funeral Services will begin on Friday, March 10, with a 10:00 am prayer service at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Joseph's Church of Christ Our Hope Parish, Boonville, where Rev. Thomas Ward will officiate. Interment this spring will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, West Leyden. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
