Boonville - Elizabeth "Betty" A. (Shue) Alger, 81, a long-time resident of Boonville and Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Boonville passed away on March 1, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica, NY. Betty was born in Lyons Falls, NY on March 12, 1928, a daughter of Lawrence and Leona Shue. She was educated at and graduated from Port Leyden School. She is survived by six children and their spouses, Charles and Juanita Alger of Eagleville, TN, Ann and Don Abata of Seoul, South Korea, Linda and Ned Ross of Boonville, Kathy and Monte Cox of Fort Dix, NJ, Patricia and Mark Kingdon of Boonville, and Jeri and Darrin Eader of Decatur, GA; two brothers, Carl "Bud" Shue and Donald Shue and his wife, Pauline, all of Lyons Falls; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Leo and her husband, John C. Alger. A sincere and thoughtful 'thank you' goes out to all of the nursing home staff whom so lovingly provided care and comfort to Betty. Special thanks to Anne Main, Chris Ricci, Chris Seelman, all of the A Wing staff, Dr. Wassel, Jeremy Britton (who during her first days at Sunset made her feel at home) and Beau Kropp, who fed her when she couldn't feed herself. A memorial service will be conducted at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Betty's memory to the Boonville Ambulance/Fire Department, Boonville, NY 13309.
