Lyonsdale- Eleatha May Rogers, 86, of Shibley Road, widow of Almon, passed away unexpectedly on October 15, 2012. Born on January 4, 1926, a daughter of Frank and Elsie Derosia Hinton, Eleatha grew up in Champion where she attended school and graduated from Champion High School. Upon graduation she moved near Copenhagen and lived on the Wood Battle Road. On November 22, 1944 she was united in marriage with Almon Rogers. The couple lived for a short time on Burdicks Crossing Road before relocating to Shibley Road. Mr. Rogers, a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Lyonsdale, died on February 15, 1990. Eleatha had a passion for her animals, and enjoyed raising horses, chickens, cats and dogs. She was at home in the kitchen and loved to bake, but will especially be remembered for her donuts. Mrs. Rogers was of the protestant faith, and had attended the Christian Fellowship Church of the Black River Valley. Eleatha is survived by her seven children: her five daughters; Patricia (Raymond) Griffith, Boonville, Sandra (Thomas) Agans, Sylvan Beach, Linda (Burton) Griffith, Boonville, Pamela (Bruce) Cobb, Windsor, S.C., and Sherry (Robert) Dunaway, Port Leyden, and her two sons, Rodney and Jenny, Cherry Valley, and Jeffrey and Petrina of Lyons Falls. She was predeceased by her eldest son, Almon "Pumkin" Rogers, his wife, Judy and their children, Tammy, Patty and William, in 1979. Also surviving are 34 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Willie. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 19, at 1:00 pm, at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville, followed by interment in Champion Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home, and again on Friday from 11:00 until the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Lyons Falls Fire Dept. 3907 High Street, Lyons Falls, NY 13368, or to the Lewis County Meals on Wheels Program, C/O Office of the Aging, 7660 State Street, Lowville, New York 13367.
