Waterville- Eleanor B. Prouty, 67, wife of Thomas K., passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at Waterville Residential Care Center, where she was surrounded by the loving care of her family. Eleanor was born on July 27, 1951 in Lowville, a daughter of William and Mildred Bush Brown. She was raised in New Bremen, and attended Fr. Leo Memorial School, Croghan, graduating from Beaver River Central School with the Class of 1969. Eleanor graduated with an Associates Degree in Banking, Insurance & Real Estate from Mohawk Valley Community College, Utica in 1971. On February 9, 1974, Eleanor was united in marriage with Thomas K. Prouty in Lowville. The couple settled in Lacona before returning to Lowville in 1975. In 1980 the couple moved to West Leyden where Eleanor was employed as a lunch monitor for West Leyden Elementary School. In 1985 the couple moved to Waterville where they have since lived. Eleanor worked for a time as a crossing guard for Waterville Central School before her longtime employment with SUNY Morrisville as a payroll examiner. Besides her husband Thomas, Eleanor is survived by her children: Deborah (Lawrence) Stell, Stockbridge, and Matthew Thomas (Charlene) Prouty, Chadwicks; grandchildren Addison, Lilly and Wesley; her siblings: Charles (Betty Lou) Brown, Castorland, Steven (Paula) Brown, Connecticut, Bonnie (Tony) Aucter, Gerald (Renee) Brown, Rosella (Robert) Kloster, all of Croghan, Michael (Yvonne) Brown, Watertown, her sisters-in-law Shirleen Brown, Lowville and Constance Brown, Harrisville and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Donald and Edward Brown. A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, at 2:00 P.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Interment will follow in West Leyden Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 11:00 A.M. until the service, at the funeral home.
