Boonville - Edward K. Pfender, Jr., 52, affectionately known as "Ouggie," life resident of Boonville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 28, 2016. He was born on July 10, 1964, in Rome, the son of Edward K. Pfendler, Sr. and Jane E. Sweeney Pfendler. He was raised on the Pfendler homestead farm on the Howanietz Road, near Boonville, receiving his education at Adirondack Central School, graduating with the Class of 1982. Some of Ouggie's happiest times were spent while growing up on the homestead farm; he loved working on the farm with his dad, Eddie and joining in family games of farm team baseball. While in high school, Ouggie was an active member of Future Farmers of America. After completing his education, Ouggie was employed on the Pfendler farm, at Still Saw Mill, Ava, and later at Ahles Gasoline Pump and Tank Co. of Oneida. Ouggie was a gifted and talented carpenter who began his long career as a building carpenter at Purcell Construction Co. of Watertown. Later he established his pride and joy, Creekside Builders, Inc. of Boonville, a construction company which he operated for many years. More recently Ouggie was employed as a truck driver for Beaver River Distribution Co. of Denmark, NY and for Burrows Trucking and Excavating Co. of Whitesboro. At the present time, he was employed in building construction for Murnane Construction Services of Rome and since August of 2015, was a member of Carpenter Union Local # 277, Binghamton, NY. Ouggie was currently a member of the Boonville Elks Lodge #2158. On July 11, 1992, Ouggie married Sue Szewczyk; later the couple was divorced. Ouggie greatly enjoyed camping with his family on the St. Lawrence River, and at Stysh's Brown Barn Campground, snowmobiling, taking his son, Kenny to Philadelphia Eagles Football Games and watching NASCAR. He is survived by one son, Kenneth "Kenny" Pfendler and his girlfriend, Shelby Kotary, Boonville; his mother and step father, Jane-Pfendler Gouger (Ed), Boonville. He was predeceased by his father, Edward K Pfendler, Sr. in 1994, by his brother and sister in law, Jerry and Lisa Pfendler, in 1985 and by his paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Mary Pfendler. Also surviving are two sisters, Donna (Chris) Bourgeois, Vicky (Brian) Karpinski, all of Boonville, a nephew, Keith (Michelle) Pfendler and their daughter, Avery, his God daughter, Carissa, Boonville. Also surviving is his ex-wife Sue Pfendler, Boonville, his step children which he dearly loved, Mike (Elise) and Jim (Heather) Bailey, and three step grandchildren; Sage, Kaiden and Jade Bailey, and his beloved canine companion, Nikita. A graveside service will be Thursday at 9:30 A.M. at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Boonville. Calling hours are Wednesday 4-8 p.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
