Constableville-Edward J. Golden, 70, of the B.J. Mackey Road, husband of Joanne, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, after a short illness. Edward was born in Croghan, on April 16, 1938, a son of Clarence and Virginia Yousey Golden. He grew up in New Bremen, and attended Fr. Leo Memorial School in Croghan. After his schooling, he was employed at United Block Co. (A.M.F.) of Croghan, until that company was destroyed by a fire. In April, 1962, Mr. Golden entered the U.S. Army serving in the United States, Germany and France. He was honorably discharged from the service in 1964, and then from the U.S. Army Reserves in April of 1968. On July 16, 1960, he was united in marriage with Joanne Shue at St. Peter's Church of New Bremen. In 1964, the couple moved to Holley, NY, where they lived until 1993, when they moved to their present home near Constableville. While living in Holley, Mr. Golden was employed as a Scales Technician at Eastman Kodak Co. of Rochester, retiring in 1992. After moving to Constableville, he was employed part time at Ethan Allen Furniture factory, Boonville, and as a delivery man for Fisher Auto Parts Store of Boonville. Mr. Golden was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Constableville, Lewis Co. Citizens Sheriff Patrol, and the National American Legion. He greatly enjoyed hunting and the out doors. Ed was also a very talented and innovative wood worker, and he made many pieces of indoor and outdoor furniture. In addition to his wife, Joanne, he is survived by two sons and daughters in law; Mark E. Golden, and Nicole, Thornton, Col., Kevin J. Golden, and Julie, Lowville, one grandson, Andrew Golden, Lowville, three step grandchildren; Alexis Steria, Jonathan Steria, and Brandy Bowman, all of Lowville, two brothers; Ronald Golden, wife, Ilona, Waverly, NY., and James Golden and friend Barb, Chaumont, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Church, Constableville, with Rev. Lawrence Marullo as celebrant. Interment with military honors from Charles J. Love Post American Legion, Harland J. Hennessey Post V.F.W. and the Tun Tavern Marine Corps League will follow at Wildwood Cemetery, Lyons Falls.
