Forestport- Edward "Pete" Altrock, 70, husband of the late Eva, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at St. Luke's Memorial Hospital, New Hartford. Affectionately known as "Pete," he was born in Oneida, NY, on November 28, 1951, a son of Herman and Elizabeth Cornish Altrock. He was raised in Oneida, moving to Forestport as a teenager, completing his education at Adirondack Central School, Boonville, graduating with the Class of 1970. During his high school years, he was employed as a grounds keeper at the Masonic Home Camp at White Lake. For 45 years, Mr. Altrock was employed as a tire salesman for Eggers Caryl & Corrigan Goodyear Tire Co. of Utica. His career entailed calling on, selling and delivering tires of all types, to a wide variety of service stations, tire stores, independent truckers and loggers, over a large area of New York state. On March 28, 1970, Pete married Nancy Wood; they were divorced in 1995. On September 9, 1995, he married Eva Kessler in Boonville and she passed away on January 24, 2021. Pete greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing; he was a member of Moose River Fish and Game Club, Lyonsdale and the White Otter Fish and Game Club, Woodgate. He is survived by a son, Douglas (Sandy) Altrock, Ilion and two grandchildren, Kyle Altrock and Shaena Altrock. He was predeceased by a daughter, Donna M. Craw, on September 18, 2020 and by a sister, Margaret Poe. Also surviving is a brother, Bud Altrock, Boonville and sisters, Pauline Gormley, Oneida, Claudia Lehning, Praque, OK and Mary Altrock, Summerville, SC and Pete's step children; Scott and Lisa Flansburg, Russell and Kim Flansburg, Judy Howard, Marie Flansbrug, James Flansburg and Dian Beauette. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation hours on Saturday, April 2, 2022, from 1-4 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Interment will be in Port Leyden Cemetery, Port Leyden at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Forestport Fire Fighters, Inc. 11965 River Road, Forestport, NY 13338.
