Boonville- Edward A. Rybicky, 88, a lifelong resident of Fish Creek Road, West Leyden, passed away on June 21, 2013. He was born on Christmas Day to Anthony and Elizabeth Rybicky. After serving in the Navy in World War II, he married Regina Cihocki, a union that lasted 60 years, until she passed away on November 17, 2010. He was employed for a short time by the N.Y. State Department of Conservation and Revere Copper and Brass. Most of his life was devoted to working the family farm until he retired in 1983. In 1969, he was honored as the Lewis County Conservation Farmer of the Year. Edward also served as town supervisor and county legislator for district 10 until 1980. Upon his retirement he spent his remaining years in Boonville. While there he was a member of the Charles J. Love Post American Legion # 406, Harland J. Hennessey Post VFW, both of Boonville, and a Charter member of the Boonville Elks Lodge # 2158. Edward is survived by his children: Sharon (Wayne) Cunningham of Utica; Allen (Debbie) Rybicky, Harpersfield, NY, and Dale Rybicky of Danville, KY. In addition he leaves six grandchildren: Ryan (Beth) Cunningham, Fairfield, CA, Teela Cunningham, Atlanta, GA, Corinne Cunningham, Manlius, NY, Shawna Cunningham, Utica, NY, Brian Rybicky, Eureka, CA, and Justin Rybicky of Harpersfield, NY. He also leaves many nieces and nephews, who called him "Uncle Ed." He was predeceased by three brothers: Frank, Anthony and Chester, and a sister, Helen Ludwikowski. Remembrances in Edward's name may be made to the American Heart Association C/O Heart Gifts Processing Center PO box 3049 Syracuse, NY 13220-3049. The family wishes to thank the staff of Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, and Bertha Goodhines, who was a devoted caregiver. His Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 11:30 A.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, with interment to follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Boonville. Calling hours are Monday 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
