Forestport- Edith L. Blair, 97, widow of Joseph E., passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at the Lewis County Extended Care Facility, where she had resided since October 2005. Edith was born on December 19, 1916, in Forestport, a daughter of Charles and Florence Wood Agley. She was educated in a rural school on Dustin Road, until finishing her education at the new Forestport Central School. On December 19, 1939, she was united in marriage with Joseph E. Blair at Trinity Episcopal Church, Boonville. Following their marriage the couple resided on the Dutch Hill Road. Mr. Blair who worked for many years in the woods as a lumber jack, and as a section hand for the Adirondack Division of the New York Central Rail Road, passed away on April 17, 1979. For several years, Mrs. Blair cleaned residences around the Village of Forestport. She was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church, Forestport. Edith was a very talented painter of ceramics, and she enjoyed crocheting, especially rugs. Following the death of her husband, Edith resided at Kortenaer Village Apartments, Boonville. Edith is survived by her sister, Belle Kilb, Forestport, several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Milton Agley, and her sister, Bessie Keyes. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 17, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville. Interment will follow in Beechwood Cemetery, Forestport. There will be a calling hour held from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 124 Schuyler St. Boonville, New York 13309.
